Melting the chocolate Preparation The display

Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter (½ cup)
  • 1 pound of powdered sugar
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • ½ cup maraschino cherries
  • ¾ tsp vanilla
  • Bitter chocolate (at least 6 oz)

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and powdered sugar.
  2. Add nuts, cherries, and vanilla.
  3. Make into balls.
  4. Roll in powdered sugar.
  5. Keep in refrigerator or freezer.
  6. In a double broiler (or just in a pan), melt 12 squares of bitter chocolate.
  7. Place a piece of wax paper on a cookie tray.
  8. Drop balls into chocolate, just enough to cover.
  9. Place on cookie tray.
  10. Refrigerate. Makes 3 pints.
